Adam created a new website for Filmspotting (https://filmspotting.org). It doesn't have 100% of the content from the old site yet, but that will be a work in progress and the old site will remain live. He welcomes any feedback/suggestions
Is anyone out there aware of a new message board system we should be considering. This one is not only pretty old but it's really not mobile friendly at all. Or if not aware, does somebody want to take the lead on researching a new one?

We could upgrade/tweak SMF to be more mobile-friendly, I believe. That'd be my preference, probably.

Is there nothing out there that would be mobile-ready from the start?

I don't know much about what's under the hood as such.
Maybe here (http://www.forummatrix.org/index.php) can help a little?
For me the board works okay as it is on mobile units. If there is an upgrade in any form I would appreciate:
- the possibility to flag threads
- the possibility to save drafts, or have som kind of note function
All this are minor, however. What's not, is the big "Thank's a lot!" that all of you moderators deserve! :)

This. Also, as usual, if we're moving away from the current software, the possibility to tag people to a comment.
And maybe a better search system...

I'll concur that the boards work fine on mobile for me too. I hope if things do change that the new software is something that has a mobile style sheet as an option, not as the only way to browse or something that changes based on the size of the window, as I find most mobile design to be more cumbersome even on mobile.

This too.

The new website looks really flashy. Got that new website smell. Great job, Adam.

New website looks cool. However, since yesterday I've been getting an error on the "unread topics" page for the forum, which I'm guessing has something to do with the new site ?

Nope. Nothing to do with the new site.

Flash new site, and its powered by FourSquare (big surprise :D)

I have had a look around and SMF seems to be one of the most feature rich of the free forum software platforms. That said looking into the 'better for mobile' software I have found Discourse (www.discourse.org). This is an open source product (although the main site does appear to encourage you to take up there hosted option). It does have a feature to migrate from SMF. I had a look at the Altassian developer community forum, and the Mozilla forum, wikipedia says they are both discourse sites, but neither mentions that is the underlying software. They have very different layouts, suggesting there is a lot of flexibility in setup.
The other software I looked into that seemed good was MyBB, I have not looked at any of the sites based on this software on a mobile device.

I've been really frustrated by this error. It's only happening to me on my phone, not my computer, but it's still severely annoying. I wondering if it's contributing to how quiet it's been here the past week.

There's no actual connection right now between the forum and the new site.

I haven't experienced the error since shortly after that post. For whatever reason, updating the iOS on my phone allowed Dreamhost to get me to the right page.
