Title: Suspiria

Everybody should see this and tell me what you think about it. It's something else!

What I got out of it:

1. The past is never gone. Even the worst things (Nazis) will return.
2. There is power in real leaders who build consensuses in third followers, but corrupt leaders (Markos) are destructive at best and parasitic at worst.
3. Guilt and shame are necessary feelings, but be guilty and shameful about things you can fix or else they're inert (the Doctor).

Also there's something about breathing being a primary concern with Susie's mother and Susie's eventual identity as Mother Suspiriorum being the mother of Sighs.

I was so excited to finally watch this and then it's like the film's themes totally sailed past me. There's a lot here to like, but bringing in Berlin and Susie's past and the Doctor's past felt very scattershot. Then the ending conversation was a signal I wasn't focusing on the forest for the trees. Your final SPOILER comment was another one. (Well done you for putting that together.) I went in expecting something atmospheric but sane. I'll have to make time to watch it again, sooner rather than later.

I want to watch it again soon too. It's so long and slow, and that's the primary thing keeping it from being even higher for the year for me (it's currently at my number 10).
