I tend to associate Neil of the Degrassi series with Neil of the Up series.  I mean, watching Wheels in final season and thinking back to the way he struck me in first season, I got a little sad actually.  Is it just the hair?  I don't know.  But he used to have a spark to him, and it disappeared at some point.  And this first shot of him here has me a little nervous.

On the other hand, the pure lust on Bronco's face here as he film's Lucy giving her graduation speech — that has me thinking I'm in for a very interesting ninety minutes.

Joey's buying a ring for Caitlin?  Simon and Alexa are engaged already?  Wow, kids grew up so fast in Canada in the early nineties.

So, will Simon and Alexa finally realize how wrong they are for each other and that it's only habit that's kept them together all this time?  We shall see.

Lucy, bringing it all back home: "Caitlin... check the statistics on teen marriage.  They haven't even had sex yet!  What if they don't get along in bed?"

Yep, that's why she was valedictorian.

Someone should update this Wikipedia page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Future's_So_Bright,_I_Gotta_Wear_Shades) to include Lucy's reference to the song title.  Also, this additional Degrassi / 21 Jump Street connection makes me insanely happy.

You're so boring when you get stoned!

She's not talking to Yick (duh) but to some guy I don't know who seems to be her current boyfriend and also a huge tool.  God, I hope this isn't Tessa's one scene.  She's pretty great.

Where's Scooter?!?

I think it's brilliant costume, hair, and makeup for the character. It's totally what Nancy would have worn to a graduation party.

Ha, I was going to make that reference, but I haven't seen American Pie and wasn't positive that's what it was.

Was Tessa one of the people who had an unrequited crush on Joey at some point?  I can't remember.

I love the way the party continues on in the background later in this shot (through the window).  And, for what it's worth, I love that color on Tessa.

Poor Nancy, no Canadian boy had a crush on her.

Hahaha, remember our very first conversation about Degrassi?

It's weird how all Canadian girls get pregnant even though all Canadian boys are gay.

Joey Jeremiah gay?! Clearly you haven't seen what he does to Tessa Campanelli in the movie.

Lucy's doing her usual good job of carrying the burden of all the exposition so far.  Exposition and motherly concern.

"Wait a minute.  We're going to Carlton.  To be roommates?  You do journalism, I do film.  Remember?"

"Look, I know you like Joey a lot.  Maybe you even love him.  But are you ready to say yes for the rest of your life?"

Zero storyline for folks like Spike and Yick sucks, but Tessa (who was more or less always a B-list player) totally delivers.

I don't know what Neil Hope was actually like. I always assumed he was an asshole but I think I was unfairly assuming 'cause of his character. Of course when he didn't appear on the reunion in 2000, I think we all assumed he was sleeping at a bus station somewhere, but we were probably just again projecting Wheels on to him.

As is Kit Hood.
Seriously.  And the score here is perfect, too.

Epic.
Yep (http://i39.tinypic.com/14sema.png).

Seriously.  And the score here is perfect, too.
Earlier I spent a couple minutes earlier trying to figure out what the music was.

Heh, yeah, my progress watching the movie hit a wall when I realized it wasn't incidental score but actually a song... I just can't seem to make out enough lyrics (or the lyrics aren't on Google).

By the way, I was hoping a for a more impressive lifeguarding performance from Snake there.  He might have come through in the end, but, damn, hated to see him hesitate like that (and also to barely outswim Luke and Yick, who seem to have been smoking nonstop since tenth grade).

It might be one of these  (http://www.degrassi.ca/songs/). We could elimate some of them without checking...I'm pretty sure it wasn't Harem Scarem.

That lake aged Snake like 30 years.

I searched the corresponding lyrics (http://www.degrassi.ca/songs/lyrics.htm#love) page for the few words I can definitely hear, and there's no match.  :-\

This isn't a funny place, Joey.  I hate it.

I'm grateful to Wheels for getting me to laugh again so soon.

I remain, as ever, a horrible, horrible person.

No, that's a hilarious line. I laugh every time I see that scene.

Perfect.

Also perfect:

"We don't talk.  Not since summer."
"Yeah... summer."

Love Caitlin's wistfulness there.

With so much going on, I totally forgot about Tessa.  She'd better get one final scene...

Yeah, all the wedding stuff is funny 'cause everybody talks like they haven't seen each other in years. Snake introduces Joey to his girlfriend as "an old friend" and they last saw each other like 6 weeks earlier.

With so much going on, I totally forgot about Tessa.  She'd better get one final scene...
I know. Her last appearance is her alone at the clinic, pretty crushing that they left her like that. And she doesn't even have a supportive Judge Reinhold to give her a ride home.

Bingo. (http://www.zshare.net/audio/6457770472e4f23a/)
Good job. Apparently this Malcolm Burn character has worked with Emmylou Harris, Patti Smith, Daniel Lanois, Bob Dylan...

The (original series) Degrassi movie.

The (original series) Degrassi movie.

Ah, okay, I was searching fro Degrassi today and I was surprised to find out that if I want to start the Degrassi world from the beginning I have to go all the way back to The Kids On Degrassi St. (or some title like that) from way back in '77. How a created world this large and longspun existed without my knowledge for this long I don't know.

That was totally awesome.  Although I've only ever heard of this show as a block on the TV grid that held no interest for me, I might have to check this out on DVD some day.

This makes me very happy. I’m still sad the original Degrassi thread got purged, but I’m so grateful this one survived, along with the thread for The Peanut Butter Solution.
