Highway 61, I remember really enjoying it all those years ago. That memory of enjoyment is stronger than my positive reaction to Pontypool. I am pretty sure I have seen Hard Core Logo, but have zero other memory of it. So Highway 61 gets my vote.

Roadkill (1989)
★ ★ ½
Typical of many directors’ early work, this is a shaggy, ramble that doesn’t have much focus on story to hold it together. What it does have is a brief runtime, a really strong soundtrack of songs I’d never heard, and an interesting central performance by Valerie Buhagiar, who’s as good here as in my beloved Highway 61. Canada’s own Don McKellar write the script and acts in the film. Bruce McDonald also appears playing a Director.

Hellions (2015)
★ ½
There’s no easier choice for me than a Horror film, but it became fascinating watching how every decision made by McDonald ends up completely wrong, from the images to the unintended pro-life stance on teen pregnancy. There’s a unique pink look to putting an infrared filter on the camera lens, but there’s nothing creepy or tense with a cotton candy visual design.
