Thor: Grade It

FroHam loves to keep bringing up Thor as a prime example of the worst of 2011. I'm thinking it's going to rate around a B-. What say you all?

I give it a C.

And it's not the worst of the year. There have been worse.

On Thor:
I give it a C.

On Cars 2:
I'd put it around a C-.

Worse than Thor? Worse than X-Men? Watch more 2011 movies. Cars 2 will sit nicely in perspective.

The hamster is confused, though I know you like Thor more than X-Men: First Class and Green Lantern.

C

Kind of like Adam and Matty said on the show, the brief period where Thor arrives on Earth is pretty great, but the rest of the movie is just cookie cutter superhero stuff.

Thor is awesome, Branagh has a complete grasp on the formality of Asgard, the absurdity of it all, the epicness of it all, like I said, awesome.

Thor was a lovely movie. A delight that made my buttery popcorn taste even more gooey and delicious.

-James Bond: A little. But I won't consider myself to be in trouble until I start weeping blood.

I really didn't think it was great. It got a D+ from me (provided that this is equal to the 2.5/5 grade I gave it, maybe it should rather be C-?) and now I fel awful, seeing that so many people in this forum genuinly love it.

I suspect I would have felt differently about it if I had read the original comic series. Or if I had seen the movie in the company with an enthusiastic child. As it now was, I thought the story was thin and the characterisation as well (apart from the Loke-father relationship that was somewhat interesting.) But above all I thought the special effects didn't deliver, they looked more like something from a TV series, unworthy of a major movie release of the year.

Sorry for being such a grumpy old jerk.  :(
