A Short Film About Killing

Kieslowski has done it again. Possibly the most grueling depiction of a murder without being graphic. Also, I still think Kieslowski is the best as connecting seemingly unrelated people in interesting ways. For all of you who went through Three Colors and Veronique in the last year you need to check it out for sure.

Yay, a review about a pre-The Double Life of Veronique Kieslowski film.

The Fountain  (2006, Darren Aronofsky)  Grade: A-

#18 in my GooseEgg marathon

...There is a really really fine line between bravado and pretension.  Aronofsky straddles the line from scene to scene and it had me holding my breath from minute to minute: Was it going to totally blow me away or it's just going to fall in on itself?  I guess, in the end I suppose it did neither - but it came pretty dang close...(more...)

The Princess Bride  (1987, Rob Reiner)  Grade: A+
TOP 100

How can a movie I've watched 100 times still get better every time I see it?  Almost flawless.  We should start a pool now so we can pay off whatever exec attempts to remake this someday.

I need to remember to do this more for my marathons. Of course the quality of the reviews probably plays a teeny part too. ;)

I kept hearing about this Kermode guy on the board so started listening to his podcast. He kept raving about this movie so I picked it up.
Grade: B
Ha, he got me too. I haven't really enjoyed any Hughes Bros. film so far but I will check this one out over the next few days.
Kermode's got me interested too.

Duck Soup Leo McCarey, 1933

So, Harpo. What a guy!

He'll probably make my best performances ballot.
