Also, you're wrong about the original ;)

I've come to accept this. :)

Thanks though.

I'm sorry but I never believe people who say they figured out SS really early. There are simply not enough clues early in the film to guess the twist. Either they saw it after the buzz was common and had heard it (even unconsciously) or they just randomly guessed.
It was probably due more to the trailer than the actual movie.

[REC]2

If I didn't like the first one, is there a chance this will be more up my alley?

I would say that no.  Stylistically its very similar.

I am yet to meet a person who can form a strong opinion on what it all means after one viewing...

I suppose you technically haven't met me, but we've posted at each other-- doesn't that count?  ;)

I’ve lied to men who wear belts. I’ve lied to men who wear suspenders. But I’d never be so stupid as to lie to a man who wears both a belt and suspenders.

Flame and Citron

The action and violence is directed with such aplomb in a fearless and bold manner.  The rest of film is banal and uninteresting by comparison.  Such a shame because the trailer shows off some of the films most striking elements.

It's a really good movie. Very flawed, but very enjoyable to watch. Impressive effects and yadda yadda.

Antichrist

If I had seen this last week, I would have voted for a Best Actress in the filmspots. I will however move past the obvious comment on the visual style and the performances; there doesn't seem to be too much disagreement on that.

If it is possible to be mixed on this film, that is what I am. Either I agree with its fiercest critics about the films offensive misogyny (though frankly I'd say it is purely misanthropic) or I think it tackles mysogyny head on in a complex and interesting way; these two sides alternate rapidly in my head like a flipped coin.

To some degree I would have liked more clarity of purpose. I actually think most of the shocking scenes work, I just wish I had a better sense of how I should piece them together. Either way, I'm off to look for a spoiler thread to read and I suppose any film that makes me invest enough to do that is worthy of some commendation.

The Secret of Kells (Tomm Moore, Nora Twomey, 2009)
Well worth 70 minutes, surely!

A back handed compliment there, but sounds like a good movie, although perhaps a little too fluffy around the edges?

I will have to make time for this movie in 2010!
