Seventh Seal-Bergman

I absolutely adore this film. It is a movie I try to watch at least once a month. I don't know what it is about it that I love so much but it feels perfect to me. I am a huge Bergman fan (#2 behind Kurosawa). Thats it!

10/10

I'm going to watch this tonight, ironically. Looking forward to it.

Rachel Getting Married
Verdict: A heart-warming, sweet little movie that will leave a smile on your face for days.
4.5/5

I don't know if I would call this necessarily heat-warming or sweet. There are some heart-warming parts and sweet parts but I found it to be a very difficult movie to watch. One that I planning on seeing again in theaters (I thoroughly enjoyed it).

well I think there are some difficult moments(i.e. Kym's rehearsal dinner speech) but I found the film ultimitely heart wharming.
I actually consider a lot of movies to be life-changing! I take them to my heart and they melt into my personality.

As long as you say Rachel Getting Married was great then you've done your job.
-Le Chiffre: You changed your shirt, Mr Bond. I hope our little game isn't causing you to perspire.

-James Bond: A little. But I won't consider myself to be in trouble until I start weeping blood.

Great I can't wait to hear what you think! Hope you aren't disappointed.

I can see that. I did leave the theater with a smile on my face and the theater got dusty (in a good way) a couple times.

I was watching Rainman last night on TV while playing poker at a buddy's place. A great movie, to be sure. I gotta say though, that little musical montage when that begins when they take off for Vegas and arrive in the Casinos is awesome! Something about all that strange singing works perfectly.

Indeed, I need to watch it again.
I’ve lied to men who wear belts. I’ve lied to men who wear suspenders. But I’d never be so stupid as to lie to a man who wears both a belt and suspenders.

As a former teenage hipster, I can say it's pretty close.

Hey, if that reflected your teen years with accuracy, then that's pretty awesome. It certainly didn't reflect my experience and I suspect most teens, even hipsters, would see that as a bit of an exaggeration/fantasy.

But more importantly, I just didn't think it was very funny.

I didn't think it was very funny either, but I wasn't expecting it to be. It's more about the joy of getting to know someone it turns out you really like and realizing they really like you too. It gets that exactly right. It gets other things right, too. And sometimes it follows the genre conventions a little too closely and some things are pure fantasy (sex at the Electric Lady studios), but I was ok with it I think because Michael Cera and Kat Dennings are the most likeable couple I've seen in a movie in years (probably since Grosse Pointe Blank Punch Drunk Love).

Up the Yangtze - this one didn't seem to have a sense of what it was trying to do.  the scope was all over the place.  the story fragments it picked up on were never followed/developed enough.  the occasional voice-over did nothing for the film.  another film i wonder how it got nominated.  it was solidly mediocre and not impressed, i might check it out again (if pressed) but can't imagine recommending it.
But I wish the public could, in the midst of its pleasures, see how blatantly it is being spoon-fed, and ask for slightly better dreams.

I gave it four and a half out off 5 and will probably vote for it in the filmspots. Is that good enough for you?

Also, skjerva, why do you quote all of your past reviews? Just wondering.
