As a result of the 3 papers I have to finish (2 by Thursday and 1 by Monday) I am likely only going to watch Hannah tomorrow anyhow.

This received pretty bad reviews when it came out but I liked it. Its a small, intimate story about a man in desperate need of a human connection. The great and gorgeous Molly Parker plays a stripper who refuses to become a call girl but sells herself nonetheless. Its sad, funny, erotic, and truthful.

Gaslight (1940) ***1/2

Far better than the Hollywood remake, Anton Walbrook alone makes that so. His performance was much more mannered and believable than the one given in the remake. The stories are the same, but the atmosphere is better in this version and it's not bloated, at all. If you watch Gaslight, make sure it's this version.
But I like Ingrid Bergman  :-\

I do as well, just not in Gaslight when she overacts to the gills and the make-up and costume people made her look like she had a face that weighed 74 pounds by itself.

Mitt Liv Som Hund (My Life As A Dog, 1985) ***1/2
http://billsmovieemporium.wordpress.com/2009/04/25/review-mitt-liv-som-hund-1985/

Well done coming of age type story, although it's more a quirky slice of life than coming of age. Obviously lying to the kid about his dog got me going, but it was a well acted and interesting movie with honest portrayals of youth.

El Espíritu De La Colmena (The Spirit Of The Beehive, 1973) ***1/2
http://billsmovieemporium.wordpress.com/2009/04/25/el-espiritu-de-la-colmena-1973/

I loved the use of Frankenstein, and I loved the cinematography. It was gorgeous, but it was also used in brilliant ways to signify where the characters were at in their lives. It is glacially paced and the film lost me when the focus moved too far away from the two sisters, but a really good, thought provoking film.
