Also, Vertigo should be at the top of that list.

I saw half of Psycho this past week. I'm afraid to see all of it...

Psycho

****/****

Funny how a movie can be such a part of pop culture you think you know everything about it before you even see it. I thought I pretty much knew everything about Psycho. I was mistaken.

This film is perfectly crafted with a nice slow burn leading to the violence. My conceptions of the film were way off. The famous shower scene had WAY less blood than I thought given how many times I had seen the clip, however, it was somehow more violent than I imagined. It is a perfect example of the less is more maxim. We dont need to see a ton of gore to get the horror. In fact, the more gore you see the less horrific it will be (see Hostel a movie that is not the slightest bit scary vs Paranormal Activity a really scary film).

Perkins is very good. All the cast is great.

I liked the ending and sort of knew it was coming from my general knowledge of the film.  What are people's problems with it.

Nice write up, Clovis - so glad you liked it so much. The ending doesn't really bother me either.

I'm with Clovis, I'm not a big fan.  Seen it 4 times, three in the theatre.  I have this problem, where I see clips or small segments and I think to myself "Wow!  That looks amazing, I must be wrong!"  Each time I watch it I'm bored pretty badly.  Is the film bad?  No, its just something I don't have a taste for.

Revolutionary Road
Exquisitely painful. DiCaprio is excellent, Winslet is even better. 4/4

Rocknrolla
Meh. Even Revolver was better than this. I love Ritchie's style, but it's his material that's stale. I'm glad to see he's moving on, with the upcoming Sherlock Holmes movie. RnR should be skipped. 2/4

Exactly my feeling. Vertigo is boring, which is the ultimate sin for a thriller and the only Hitchcock to which that label can be applied.

Although it's a shame this conversation is about Vertigo and not the awesomeness that is Psycho!

More reason to leave my copy unwatched.

Corroboree (2007)
contained some nudity.
That's really all you had to write, Tim. We can fill in the blanks...  ;)

I can't believe its that bad.  Revolver is one of the 5 worst movies I've ever seen.
