BRONSON

No, not the biography of Charles Bronson the actor rather Charlie Bronson, Britain's most famous criminal.  And the name is just his criminal nickname, earned for his death wish attitude.  Tom Hardy, an English bad boy himself delivers one hell of a performance.  its too bad its not an especially interesting film, and anything this film does well still doesn't come close to the brilliance of a film like Chopper.  Worth a look for UK Film Fanatics.

Grade C+

I want to see this film more than just about anything else currently out there. Aside from A Serious Man, but after I see that I will be dying to see Bronson.
Only a C+? That's surprising. I have really high hopes for this one.

Yeah.  I had heard great things about it, but it didn't deliver on the story front.  The performance is pretty great, but again Chopper has an amazing story and is well made.  This is overly simple, but I guess its hard to make a biopic about a guy who spends 34 years of a 36 year stretch in solitary confinement.  That's where the film fails, there isn't enough substance.

Brick (2005)

Originally I was going to write an actual review about this, but out of laziness I decided not to. All I will say is this, I loved the transplanted dialogue, and pretty much everything about this film. But, any time a film works the word effulgent into a characters mouth I can only respond with a "Whoa, awesome."

This review makes me happy.
I actually consider a lot of movies to be life-changing! I take them to my heart and they melt into my personality.

Duplicity

Rule No. 1 when making an espionage film; be it Corporate, Industrial, Political or any kind of espionage don't be BORING.  Be interesting!  That's gotta be the first rule.  By breaking rule number 1 Duplicity fails to be a good movie.  Sure its got witty dialog and good anamorphic photography, but as good as Robert Elswitt, ASC, is he's only as good as the movie.  Its rubbish that drags on for 2 hours and nearly six minutes.  Sure, there's a surprise ending fitting the genre, but its not worth putting yourself through the pains of 2 hours and 6 minutes of this movie.  I'll give it the big Corporate espionage sequence, where they're stealing the formula, its pretty tense, but my god, it too isn't worth the time.  I actiually thought about doing my quarterlies  while I was watching this.

Dracula (1969)

Watching this it seemed more like a vampire film for the ladies, mainly because of Frank Langella.

Paranormal Activity

The scariest movie I've seen in theaters in a long time. It just keeps building upon itself until it climaxes perfectly. It did get a little boring when Katie and Micah got in the same fight over and over.

I've always counted Chris Cooper's performance as one of the best of the decade. Just to throw my two cents in, it's not a great movie, but I think it's worth a watch.

But you said that Where the Wild Things Are is practically flawless, right?

What I said was:
I have yet to find anything I didn't like about the film.

I also said that I couldn't find fault, and by that I meant to reinforce the above statement.  However, this doesn't apply as WTWTA is loaded with content and substance.  BRONSON draws out long scenes involving drooling and senseless violence.  Sure, that's technically substance, but for my taste it does tell a compelling narrative.  Again, go watch Chopper and see how they tell a similar story far more effectively.
