Pride and Prejudice

This has to be one of the best, and most faithful, adaptations of a classic novel ever transfered to film. I have loved this novel most of my life an have no idea why I never saw this version. It is magnificent.

A couple of weeks ago I said some very unkind things about Joe Wright for inflicting the horrible The Soloist on the world but with P&P he has created a very beautiful film.

The famous proposal was absolutely perfectly shot. It is one of my favorite film scenes of all time now.

I share your sentiments.  I really loved it.  Wish I cold have seen it in 3D.  My biggest blunder of the year.

The worst thing is watching the 3D version on the DVD.  It's like a cruel joke.

Nobody does it like Polanski, watch Rosemary's baby if you haven't already.

On it. I am going to demolish his entire works. He is 3/3 so far. Repulsion, Chinatown and The Pianist are all masterpieces.
Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others.

Um, no. You may like the movie as much as you like, but please, please do not call this film a faithful adaptation.

He's right.  Most faithful.  Sorry.  I've read the book 4 times, twice since seeing the film.  Its bang on.

I think 1995 mini-series is a much more faithful adaptation.  The film is just too short for the novel, some compromises had to be made.
