The thing that surprised me most about Talk to Her was that it had one of the most egregious characters who does the most horrible thing and here I am feeling bad for him and crying about it all. That takes some talent on Almodovar's part. Gets me every time I watch it.

Ironically, that is the other Almovodar film I've seen. I didn't feel as much pitty for the character I presume you're talking about. Or at least, not as much pitty as you did.

Yeah, that was my reaction.  I still prefer AAMM quite a bit more.

Also, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance is a good one, Jimmy Stewart and Lee Marvin and John Wayne! Also, Vera Miles.

And The Quiet Man is a lot of fun. And totally different from the rest of these.

My dad loves to watch this around St. Patrick's Day.  Also my girlfriend has a strange love for McClintock!

The Searchers and (I think) The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance stream on Netflix.

And you should probably watch True Grit before the remake comes out...

Rio Bravo (1959, Howard Hawks)

Believe it or not this was my first John Wayne movie.  Hopefully he has more to do other films!

I suggest you watch, in no particluar order

True Grit
The Searchers
The Shootist
She Wore a Yellow Ribbon
The Quiet Man
The Cowboys
Sand of Iwo Jima

................and if you don't like him after that then you are an unpatriotic commie pinko. or he isn't your cup of tea, one or the other.

It was pretty cool to see all these actors so young - in particular Angela Lansbury.

Huh?

Did you confuse Angela Lansbury with Angie Dickinson??

Duh Angie Dickinson- of course.  Yeah I knew the actress - just confused the names.  I'm going back to fix my original post!

The Full Monty

I had never seen this before and it wasn't as good as the Academy made it out as, or as I had heard, but it was cute and had a whole lot of heart.  The ending is earned and I couldn't fight back a fit of giggles.  Worth watching if you haven't seen it already.  Its another decent entry into the UK's obsession with Under Dog Stories.

Grade B

Having been my first pure British underdog comedy it does hold a soft spot for me.  I gave it an A and have it in my (unofficial) top 250.
