Am I the only person to have fallen completely in love with Vertigo upon first viewing?
Nope. I showed it to a group of people and they all loved it.

I thought Vertigo was boring with a terrible ending.  But I've already resigned myself to being wrong on both counts ;)

Sadly, I agree with this (and would say the same about Citizen Kane). Never gotten past the first hour of Seven Samurai because it is so mindnumbingly dull (even though we teach it in intro political science about government as a stationary bandit). I think a film needs to not only work the first time, but work throughout. I'll give a film at least 45-60 min, but it can't rely on something right at the end to make the whole thing work, it needs to hold me throughout. Admittedly work is a subjective thing.

I've seen nearly all of Hitchcock's work now and Vertigo is my least favourite. Oh well.

The Bourne Ultimatum

Still my favorite action movie of all time and, I think, objectively one of the best action movies ever made (I would say THE best). This is very close to a perfect movie. No matter how many times you watch the London station scene it is riveting.

I hope they make a fourth, assuming it is all the same people.

Grade: A+

I agree. We need to get it on the top 100 next year.
I actually consider a lot of movies to be life-changing! I take them to my heart and they melt into my personality.

District 9

I found the lead character very much a tool, and that hurt my enjoyment a bit.

I thought he did a great job of going from a dorky paper pusher to a guy who is fighting for his life. The transformation he makes was really amazing to me. One of my favorite performances of the year.

I've watched all three Bournes more than a couple times... I find it very hard to decide which one I like the most.

I agree but I would go:

Ultimatum
Identity
Supremacy

But is it better than Back to the Future?

It's in my Top 100 of the Decade, fo sho.  But not my All Time Top 100.

An Unlikable, dorky paper pusher.  He was a real rotter, a spineless jellyfish of a man who did some pretty heinous things in the beginning.
