Persepolis

This was really good. I loved the limited animation, the textured backgrounds, and the music. My only small complaint is that narratively the movie is sort of shapeless. Stuff happens, then more stuff happens. Still lots of fun and beautiful anyway.

4/5 stars

Its a rare occasion that the art house is playing this, cause usually they play nonsense like "Sleuth," and never get any good little films.  But its playing today, and NO ONE will go with me, yet they all ask me to see "Cloverfield!"  I don't want to see Cloverfield, I want to see Persepolis!  I need to meet some film geeks in RL. :(

I just found out that Billy Mitchell once again holds the record on Kong and it kills me.

Say it ain't so!  That bastard!
It's like I've waited my whole life, for this one night.  It's gon' be me you and the dance floor.  We've only got one night.  Double your pleasure, double your fun.  And dance forever.

Damn that Billy Mitchell!  I really hate that guy.  I like Steve Wiebe.  He's da man!

Finally saw Snakes on a Plane.  It's terrible.  There were a couple of moments of campy fun, but really it's not worth watching.

The Devil Wears Prada  (David Frankel, 2006)
A cleanly put-together film in three acts.
          Act 1: Breezy fun.
Act 2: Exasperating, clumsy attempts to advance a story that takes itself too seriously.
          Act 3: Boring, by-the-numbers conclusion.
     Grade: C-

Black Book
Wow, this was really lame.  Twists and turns abound, but the exposition is sloppy and lazily handled.  The action sequences are almost comically bad, and the film is visually unappealing, aside from Carice Van Houten, whose performance is the film's one strong point.
3/10

Snakes on a Plane was hilarious.  Best time I had in a theater in 2006.

Elizabeth (1998)

It was... okay. There was no aspect of this movie that I found to be particularly stand-out in quality. I certainly wouldn't call it bad or boring however. I was really excited to watch this one, but it was just kinda flat. Anyone else feel this way?
