Would you recommend?

Enthusiastically.  It's hard for me to imagine you not loving Paris, Texas.

The Namesake - over-rated, predictable, though has moments.

Ever since I sat through two pretentious hours of The Million Dollar Hotel, I haven't gone near a Wenders film. I'm kinda curious about Land of Plenty and Don't Come Knockin' though. Has anybody seen these and can comment?

Elizabeth (1998)

It was... okay. There was no aspect of this movie that I found to be particularly stand-out in quality. I certainly wouldn't call it bad or boring however. I was really excited to watch this one, but it was just kinda flat. Anyone else feel this way?

Yes.  :)

I liked it but I watched it back to back with Shakespeare in Love, and SinL kind of blew it away out of my mind.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age

I just finished watching this. Pretty much the same story as the first one. I don't think Clive Owen did a very good job here, that or it wasn't a good fit for him. In any case he felt out of place. Watching this movie was like watching a marathon, the same pace from start to finish. When there was a chance for action and excitement, it was stifled by the music which failed to match it. And alternately, when the film takes a moment to get emotional the music is overdramatic and unjustified. Just a frustrating film all around. What has Shekhar Kapur done in the past that he can get backed for a movie like this?  This story could be made into a MUCH better film, and I hope one day it is.

I remember Kapur talking about a third Elizabeth movie but I think that was before The Golden Age tanked.
I wholeheartedly agree with you on the music, I can't remember a single moment where it worked for me.

The Man Who Knew Too Much  I'll try to get more into it on the marathon thread but overall I was kind of meh.  It had its moments but I had a hard time keeping my attention on it.
Which one?

The 1956 one, since I could watch it immediately on Netflix.  If the earlier one was available that way I'd watch it too, but my queue is too clogged with Oscar contenders (and okay, Doctor Who season 3) to wedge it in too.
