No, but that's because the stories get much better from Goblet on, through no merit of Yates.

I think my biggest problem was the tonal inconsistency of having this be a rather whimsical story with some goofy sensibilities bumped up against this dark, brooding tone that I never felt reading the book. Christopher Columbus set a good tone with the first two and while I get that this is a more proficient film, I would have liked a tone closer to Columbus's work.

I always felt in the books that Goblet of Fire was when the series eased more into the darker material. I get that there are some terrifying ideas in Prisoner of Azkaban, but Cuaron shoots the thing like a dang horror picture, which is not what I had in mind when I read the books. And then there's this really wacky, broad humor that doesn't work for me at all and feels completely out of place.

Plus, I always felt like Prisoner of Azkaban was the weakest of the books as the big reveal was this odd bait and switch involving a bunch of characters that weren't that well set up in the books and feel even more rushed in the movie.

DarkeningHumour is already the name of a muggle rock band. We're five pasty metal heads in their mid fourties who share an account and a mylittleponyworld.com password.
