I went through the Top 500
I felt "bad" that my favorite genre, film noir, was underrepresented in my top 100, so I wanted to do a "top 100 noir". There's a lot of the obvious choices, but I think some lesser-known gems as well. For my definition of noir, I followed the same guidelines as the 250 Quintessential Noir Films list, namely:1) They were all produced in the United States; 2) They were all shot in black-and-white; 3) They were all produced between 1940 to 1959. As in their list, there are a few exceptions. And there's a hell of a lot of crossover with that list, but consider this a "best of the quintessential" (IMHO) with a few extras thrown in. I probably spent way too much time putting this list together and gathering all the screenshots, but it's done and here it is, in alphabetical order.10. The Burglar (Paul Wendkos, 1957)46. The Mob (Robert Parrish, 1951)49. My Name Is Julia Ross (Joseph H. Lewis, 1945)
