I went through the Top 500

Can someone point me in the direction of the Top 500 please? I'm probably being incredibly blind, though it's gone 2 in the morning here so I'm claiming fatigue as an excuse...

Wilson posts the Excel sheet of every film that received votes in the first post of the actual list. You can go there and download it.

Heh, was just coming back to edit my post as I'd just noticed the link to the spreadsheet. Thanks Corndog.

Does anybody have a copy of the original, 2008 edition, of the top 100 spreadsheet?

I'm sure I have it saved somewhere, but I can't find it anywhere and sadly the links on the countdown page are long since dead.

I felt "bad" that my favorite genre, film noir, was underrepresented in my top 100, so I wanted to do a "top 100 noir".  There's a lot of the obvious choices, but I think some lesser-known gems as well.  For my definition of noir, I followed the same guidelines as the 250 Quintessential Noir Films list, namely:

1) They were all produced in the United States;
2) They were all shot in black-and-white;
3) They were all produced between 1940 to 1959.

As in their list, there are a few exceptions.  And there's a hell of a lot of crossover with that list, but consider this a "best of the quintessential" (IMHO) with a few extras thrown in.   I probably spent way too much time putting this list together and gathering all the screenshots, but it's done and here it is, in alphabetical order.

10. The Burglar (Paul Wendkos, 1957)

46. The Mob (Robert Parrish, 1951)

49. My Name Is Julia Ross (Joseph H. Lewis, 1945)

Just quoting this to note that these three will be released in 2012 as part of the "Columbia Film Noir Classics III" DVD set, along with Drive a Crooked Road (pretty good) and Tight Spot (haven't seen it).

Tight Spot is pretty good.  The unusual team of Edward G. Robinson, Brian Keith and Ginger Rogers.

You know, I don't know Filmspotting's schedule on these things and if I did, I would have submitted a list. I had one done just for this event, but I don't go into the Filmspotter Pantheon subforum because last time I was here, there was nothing happening, so I just ignored it. Really sucks that I couldn't put in a list. I hope next time someone sends a reminder to new people on the forums about this kind of stuff because I really wanted to be part of it.

@Totoro: An easy way to keep up with what's discussed in the forums is to use the "recent posts" link that you'll find in the bottom of the first page of the forum. There you'll see all posts that have been posted regardless of where on the forum. You don't need to keep up with everything that is said of course but if you use that feature once in a while you get a feeling for where the discussions are most lively atm. In August there was a crazy activity in that thread. I guarantee you wouldn't have missed it if you'd checked out "View the most recent posts on the forum".
Please note that you can go back 10 pages. That will not take you a whole day back though. We talk a lot here!

Edit: Now that I understad that you don't use this feature I can't help worrying that Totoro might not see this post from me... Sigh. I don't know how to convey this piece of information to him. He ought to know...  :-\
