That shot isn't in Brick, but I believe it's in the trailer.

Yes, and yes. But I like it better than any shot that's actually in BRICK.

Does...Not.....compute.

Nice list though. I'll love any list with Brick, and with Fight Club at #1.
I actually consider a lot of movies to be life-changing! I take them to my heart and they melt into my personality.

That list is very... um, male, I guess?  I like a lot of your choices, though.

Ha, maybe that came out wrong: BRICK is chock-full of wonderful shots, but I am particularly enamored with that shot of Nora Zehetner.

That list is very... um, male, I guess?

Ha! Like in the frat-boy sense? Well, at least I can thank you for confirming my virility. Now, spot me while I try this keg stand.

Yeah, sort of.  It's a lot of movies about guys being tough or dealing with intense situations.  There aren't a whole of female leads in your selections.  I don't want to be dismissive or do too much generalizing, but it just strikes me as "stuff a typical guy likes".  It's very testosterone-y.  Like, it struck me that a bunch of your screenshots feature men with guns (often pointed at the viewer) or clearly about to kick some kind of ass.

What do you think of the Blu-Ray?

I don't own a Blu-Ray player unfortunately. I have the R2 3-disc set of both films, with the Poughkeepsie Shuffle documentary.

The Blu-Ray transfer is really controversial, but I loved it.
How so?

Interestingly, the only other Friedkin film I've seen is The Exorcist.

Huh. Well, I appreciate the evaluation. I can't say that I necessarily disagree. I suppose I do gravitate toward male protagonists who find themselves threatened by death/fate/crisis, though I am generally nothing like said men (able, tough, proud, etc.). A casual observer of my life might even assume that my cinematic leanings are a byproduct of the masculine role-model void left by growing up without a full-time father. (They'd be wrong, but they still might assume it.)

So, how much for the hour, Doc Teller?

Got started on the top 100 business today... finished stage 1: put last year's list  in a spreadsheet, created a new column called "not feelin' it this year" and went down the list ticking off the faders. Here's what I'm saying goodbye to:

11   Deep Water
36   Once Upon a Time in the West
41   The Dark Knight
45   Wall-E

54   Commando
55   White Men Can't Jump

59   Vicky Cristina Barcelona
68   The Kid Stays In the Picture
73   Rambo
74   Full Metal Jacket
76   GoodFellas
82   Zoolander
87   Scent of a Woman

90   Rio Bravo
92   The Shootist

93   Criminal
95   Revolutionary Road
97   Wayne's World
98   Private parts

100   The Bourne Supremacy

fallen off because my initial enthusiasm has waned (some after a second/third viewing, others after one).
has become overly familiar after numerous viewings and the prospect of watching it again no longer excites me like it used to
At this moment I'm not in love with it and the reasons I had for including it before are forgotten to me now. Not motivated to reexamine the situation at this time.

That makes room for 20 new entries, and maybe more depending on the strength of the last year of movie watching.

Lots of interesting picks. This one caught my eye. I don't believe I've ever heard it mentioned on the boards before. I like a good courtroom drama, would this fit the bill?

62. UNDER SUSPICION

Also good to see Stander make a list. I liked that one.

Party on, Wayne.  :'(

Also, I hope you revisit OUATITW, especially now that it's on bluray. It grew on me a lot more on the second viewing.

I wasn't going to say that, but I got a bit of that vibe from the list. I'm not judging it or anything, it's just the antithesis of what I like in film. Still, an interesting list with a good amount of films I really like. Always intrigued by what other users love.
