What a beautiful baby! I'd watch that. Seriously AAAutin, the fact that this exists and you found it is too good!

I wrote a few lines on the blog I edit on this poll.

>>> When all before you is barren...

Quote
It recalls a friend's amusing comment a few years back, after I'd referred to several films that night as "Top 5 material" or something similar."How many films are in your Top 5," she asked, "so far you've listed about ten!" So so far, I've been considering films by asking how I'd rate them on an instinctive basis: Top 100 contender? Top 50? Top 20? Top 10? Is it my favourite film? (No, unless it's The French Connection.)

Is the first Heimat film (or any of the others for that matter) eligible?

I believe it was a miniseries first, so I would think not.  Great pick, though.

Is the feature-length pilot of Twin Peaks eligible?

I have between 70 and 80 films "locked" and about 104 in contention. Obviously the latter might chuck a few of the former out. At present I've made instinctive labels of "Top 50" and "Top 100", from which I'll make approximate sets according to the ranking tier (it's not going to be fully ranked 1-100).

I'm gonna try and devise some kind of schedule so I might get through watching the majority of the contenders. 11 are on 'high priority' rental; three more are ready to stream. I own 90, either on DVD and VHS. I expect I'll be able to butcher a lot as I start to make my way through them, but as a starting point I'm keeeping an open mind.

FWIW, I rate around 850+ films 4/5 or higher. That was my initial pool, though it was very easy to eliminate a lot of them.
