Anyway, here's one of the last Top 100s I made, way back in March 2004: click.

How different from your 2004 list is your current list looking, MP?
Sorry Flicker, I just saw this now.

I have 23 entries or so from the 2004 list still hanging about. Besides The French Connection, only 1 Top 10 entry remains in the Top 10 (while another three have entered it).

I still have a few films to revisit.

I didn't really know where else to put this... if anyone has a better idea, I'll move it.

I felt "bad" that my favorite genre, film noir, was underrepresented in my top 100, so I wanted to do a "top 100 noir".  There's a lot of the obvious choices, but I think some lesser-known gems as well.  For my definition of noir, I followed the same guidelines as the 250 Quintessential Noir Films list, namely:

1) They were all produced in the United States;
2) They were all shot in black-and-white;
3) They were all produced between 1940 to 1959.

As in their list, there are a few exceptions.  And there's a hell of a lot of crossover with that list, but consider this a "best of the quintessential" (IMHO) with a few extras thrown in.   I probably spent way too much time putting this list together and gathering all the screenshots, but it's done and here it is, in alphabetical order.
