I added I Fidanzati and Il Posto by Ermanno Olmi to my Director's of Shame Marathon. As luck would have it, he's alphabetically next on the list.

Unseen from the top 500, Ones I'm keen to see in bold:

[...]

Long Day Closes

[...]

Given your propensity to check out LGBT films, a small part of this film deals with the autobiographical detail of the director's growing awareness of his homosexuality in his childhood as a Catholic in a Catholic school.  (He now considers himself an atheist.)  Though Terence Davies' earlier trilogy of short films - Children, Madonna and Child, and Death and Transfiguration - spends more time "dramatizing" his homosexuality and spends more time on his struggle with it.  All his films aren't conventionally narrative, though; they are structured on vignettes.  So consider this a very weak recommendation based on the style of his films and that it's not a huge part (screentime-wise) of Long Day Closes compared to his trilogy.  While I consider Davies to be among the premier stylists in the history of film, it's his openness and the autobiographical slant of his work that also leads me to hold his films in high esteem.  The DVD commentaries are extremely informative of how personal his films are.

I recommend the latter film first for you.  While it's not similar to The 400 Blows and the lead is much older than Antoine Doinel, both can be considered youth films.  Again they're very different, but the Truffaut is the only film from your Top 100 that I can compare Il Posto to the slightest degree.  I don't see any film from there for which I can do the same for I Fidanzati.

Harakiri is the only one on your unseen list that I'd strongly recommend to you.  But that's more about me than you.

Ver, that's one of many that aren't highlighted mostly because I haven't heard anything about them rather than a specific judgement. Thanks for bringing its themes a bit more to my attention, though isn't Davies the director of that Liverpool "doc" I hated a couple years ago?

Of Time and the City?  If that's what you're referring to, yes he is.  Though disliking that docu-essay isn't a bellwether of finding something of interest in his other films in my opinion.  At the same time, I think familiarity with his past films and Davies' autobiographical details helps one appreciate Of Time and the City more if only to understand Davies slightly more through that docu-essay (i.e. why he feels how feels; why he said what he said).

OK, I think this is a list over the movies on the top 100 I have yet to see. I'm a bit uncertain about a few, putting a question mark for them. I may have watched them a long time ago or only read about them so I think I've watched them. My memory is blurred.

Also a reservation: I haven't doublechecked all those titles. There might be a few I've actually watched but just don't recongize the English title.
However: there's no doubt about the fact that I have quite a few good movies unseen.
