James Bond 007: Felix Leiter
« on: November 07, 2011, 05:35:42 PM »
Bond's CIA contact is always there to aid our man Bond, and 9 actors have played the character over the years, with only David Hedison and Jeffrey Wright reprising their roles. Who was the best?

Michael Pate - Casino Royale (1954) as Clarence Leiter

Jack Lord - Dr. No

Cec Linder - Goldfinger

Rik Van Nutter - Thunderball

Norman Burton - Diamonds are Foever

Bernie Casey - Never Say Never Again

David Hedison - Live and Let Die and Licence to Kill

John Terry - The Living Daylights

Jeffrey Wright - Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace

This is a tough one. I will only say that Jeffrey Wright has been greatly underused so far. Tempted to vote for Jack Lord, by my memory is fuzzy on a lot of these guys.

As one of the main recurring characters, Felix never really gets used all that much.

That being said, I'm gonna go with the original here, Michael Pate in the much underseen Casino Royale (1954). I think Lord would be my #2.

Bernie Casey, FTW.

Runner-up: Jack Lord.
Kevin: Yes, why does there have to be evil?

Supreme Being: I think it has something to do with free will.

Tom: Sister, when I've raised hell you'll know it.

Norman Burton - Diamonds are Foever

Bernie Casey - Never Say Never Again

Wow, you can really see the age difference of Connery!

I have to admit: I love Never Say Never Again.  It came out a few months after Octopussy and really helped cleanse my Bond palate after that traumatic experience.

And Connery really was great in it.

Yes - and it succeeds even without the Bond theme music.

There are three Leiters I enjoy: Hedison, whose energy I like a lot, Wright, who is simply a good actor and goes for a very subdued type of Leiter, and Lord.

I went with Lord. Not only is he cool in the role, but him and Connery in the same film is the coolest thing ever.
-Le Chiffre: You changed your shirt, Mr Bond. I hope our little game isn't causing you to perspire.

-James Bond: A little. But I won't consider myself to be in trouble until I start weeping blood.

1. Jeffrey Wright
2. David Hedison
3. Jack Lord

After those guys, I've never really liked the other actors...

Cec Linder
Rik Van Nutter
Norman Burton
John Terry
