Filmspots 2011: Nominations Ballot
« on: January 20, 2012, 01:33:03 PM »
Below is the official nominations ballot for the 2011 Filmspots. To submit a ballot, simply copy and paste the ballot below into a private message to me, fill in your choices for each category, and send it off. The deadline to submit a nominations ballot is Sunday, January 29 (extending into Monday morning).

Note that each category heading below links to that category's For Your Consideration (FYC) thread.  The first post of each FYC thread lists possible nominees that have been mentioned to date. You are not limited to the options mentioned in these FYC threads. However, if something you want to vote for isn't listed, it's in your best interest to get it added so that other people can consider your nominee. There is also a master list that organizes all the potential nominees by film title.

Other notes:

  • You do not have to vote in every category, nor do you have to vote for a full five nominees in every category. A first-place vote counts the same whether you list one nominee in a category or a full five; same with a second-place vote, and so on.
  • The order of your nominees is important (votes are weighted) and ties are not allowed.
  • Each nomination must be tied to a single film. If you want to nominate Brad Pitt for Tree of Life and Moneyball, that has to be two separate votes. You can't combine them.
  • Although they have their own categories, non-English language films, animated Films, and documentaries are also eligible for every other category, including Best Picture.
  • Keep in mind that the Filmspots have different eligibility guidelines than, say, the Oscars. Films like Fish Tank, Alamar, Howl, Rabbit Hole, and Summer Wars are eligible for the Filmspots again this year, even though they might have been in Oscar contention last year. For a more detailed explanation of the 2011 eligibility guidelines, see the Eligibility thread.
  • The Best Debut Feature category recognizes a director's US theatrical feature debut. Earlier films that did not receive theatrical distribution in the US do not affect a director's eligibility.

If you have any questions that aren't addressed by the FAQ, please ask them here.

Nominations will be announced Tuesday, January 31 in a live chat at 8pm EST (1am GMT).
