I've got a recommendation based on your list. A deranged novel called My Idea Of Fun by Will Self.

Great book.  Very funny, very well-written.

Tried to read some of Self's other stuff since, but I never really took to his subsequent work.
Kevin: Yes, why does there have to be evil?

Supreme Being: I think it has something to do with free will.

Verna: I suppose you think you raised hell.

Tom: Sister, when I've raised hell you'll know it.

I think it's the most disturbing book I have read. Especially when I was reading Thomas The Tank Engine to my kids.
I used to encourage everyone I knew to make art; I don't do that so much anymore. - Banksy

Disturbing is having read all thirteen Lemony Snicket books to my son and trying to find one redeeming quality in the whole series.  I could barely disguise my contempt for the author as I had to read his self-indulgent, hack-prose aloud.

Wondered if you had read the early nutso Lloyd Hopkins books, the bizzaro golf caddy story and the really strange Silent Terror.

I have not. (I'm more of a Dudley Smith man, myself.) Though, I do know that BLOOD ON THE MOON was adapted as COP, starring Jimmy Woods.

A deranged novel called My Idea Of Fun by Will Self.

Will Add to my ever-burgeoning to-read list.

This is gonna be weird.

5. William Shakespeare

Weirdo.

I believe I saw the movie COP every single time it aired on cable during the late 80s/early 90s.  I also, for some reason, own it on laser disc.  Oddly, I never remember James Woods being in it; I've always thought of it as a "Randi Brooks movie".   ::)

What, you?! Jim Brown, '80s Enthusiast? Never!

(I have no idea who Randi Brooks is, but I'm sure a quick Mr. Skin scan would reveal some horribly teased hair.)

05. Chuck Palahniuk - From what I've read, he bats about 500 for me.  Lullaby is my favorite.

The longer he stays in the league, the lower that percentage drops. Had I made this list five years ago, he would have been my hands-down #1.

(And the correct answer is FIGHT CLUB. No matter the question, always FIGHT CLUB.)

Own it, haven't read it.  The movie is too vivid in my mind, even though it has been years since I've seen it.  It would be a disservice to the book to read it until the movie recedes to a more comfortable distance in my memory.

Man With Two Brains.  Elevator scene.  Raincoat.

Nah, doesn't matter. The film will always be better.

(Here's the first line of Mr. Skin's Randi Brooks bio: After the death of the great Carol Wayne, Randi Brooks stepped in as Hollywood's sexiest ditz. Also: hair shockingly unteased. And yes, raincoat.)
