Pixote, you'll want to also track the reviews in the latest MDC, which is all Retrospots.  For instance, Peaceful Anarchy has a good review of Old Yeller, which isn't marked on your list yet.

115 out of 215.

53.5%.

Super excited about the very worthwhile-sounding viewings of The Singing Ringing Tree and The Devil Strikes at Night.

The Singing Ringing Tree is on YouTube. Brace yourself.  :)

I'm assuming this to be the banner thread for the 1957 spots. I had the thought that the modern filmspots don't take place in a cultural vacuum; that literature, music, tv, sport, events is happening all around the films of that year. Here is a cull of different cultural happenings in books and music from 1957;

1957 Books

Atlas Shrugged- Ayn Rand
Dandelion Wine- Ray Bradbury
Doctor Zhivago- Boris Pasternak
The Executioners- John D MacDonald (aka Cape Fear)
From Russia With Love- Ian Fleming
The Guns of Navarone- Alistair MacClaine
The Midwich Cuckoos- John Wyndham
On The Beach- Nevil Shute
On The Road- Jack Kerouac
Room AT The Top- John Braine
The Sandcastle- Iris Murdoch
The Scapegoat- Daphne du Maurier
Some Came Running- James Jones
The Town- William Faulkner

There are some iconic 60s movies that originated in 1957.

1957 Music
Lennon & McCartney meet at a church fete
The Cavern Club opens in Liverpool
Simon & Garfunkel form as "Tom & Jerry"
Jailhouse Rock- Elivis Presley
American Bandstand premieres
After School Session- Chuck Berry
Birth of the Cool- Miles Davis
The Chirping Crickets- Buddy Holly & The Crickets
Here's Little Richard
No Count Sarah- Sarah Vaughan
Patsy Cline
Please, Please, Please- James Brown
With His Hot & Blue Guitar- Johnny Cash

Bitter Victory
Fear Strikes Out
Men in War
Le Notti Bianche
The Passionate Stranger aka A Novel Affair
Pyaasa
Tokyo Twilight
The Truth About Women

It's up to you lot, but I'll assume your professed love for the Archers is bull if you don't see Ill Met By Moonlight. No way their best, but great fun.

I don't profess love for The Archers, just some of their films, but I will add this to my list to compare Marius Goring to Curd Jürgens in The Enemy Below. Supporting Actor Deathmatch.

Your brain is broken

If this was the title of a 1957 film, I'd be watching said film right now.
