3. The Matrix - The first film in the Matrix series was the only film that impressed me.  The others were just boring.  Although, now that I look back at this film, I don't even know if I'm impressed with it now.  I did like V for Vendetta however, although that wasn't directed by the Wachowski brothers.

I had The Matrix on my list at the beginning, then I thought of V, now you remind me that they didn't direct. The Matrix is now officially #6 on my list.
But wait... Bound is good too! Sorry, sdedalus beat me to it.

Well, since I haven't seen Bound, and the second Matrix is good only for the highway scene. So my pick stands.

I tried to come up with a top 5, but no dice. I just don't know the names of one-hit directors- unless they have a track record, I don't really keep track. Anyways, here's what I came up with:

5. ?
4. Barry Sonnenfeld- Get Shorty
3. Kevin Costner- Dances with Wolves
2. Kevn Smith- all his films. I love them (except J&SBSB), but he's not a great director yet.
1. George Lucas- Star Wars

After looking at others' lists, I guess I'd put the Wachowskis at 5, but they just haven't made enough for me to judge their directing ability. Or lack thereof. Home Alone is fun and Chris Columbus is a horrible director, but I don't think it's good enough to be on the list.

1.  Three O'Clock High - Directed By Phil Joanou
2.  Better Off Dead - Directed By Savage Steve Holland (I love the guy, and think all his films are great, but he is known for this)
3.  Chasing Amy - Directed by Kevin Smith (Again, I love him, but he isn't a good director, he's a good storyteller)
4.The Rock - Directed by Michael Bay
5.Equilibrium - Directed by Kurt Wimmer (The man has great style and probably could be a good director, but his high concept films freak out studios)

4.The Rock - Directed by Michael Bay

How could I forget this? I feel like an idiot. I'm gonna re-do my list right here and now:

5. The Matrix - Again, I haven't seen Bound, and since they didn't direct V, this is their only good movie. Directed by the W. Brothers.

4. Red Dragon - The only good movie by Brett Ratner.

3. Falling Down - A really good movie by an ok if not bad director. Directed by Joel Schumacher

2. Deep Blue Sea/Die Hard 2 - Sam Jackson and terrorists? Sign me up. Directed by Renny Harlin

1. The Rock - The truly bad Michael Bay makes a truly good movie. So many quotes! Welcome to the ROCK.

I just found another one:
The Count of Monte Cristo - From the Director of both Tristan + Isolde and Waterworld, probably two of the worst films ever made.  So how did he make this great adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo?

I'm not rewriting my list again, but I did like this movie. It was well done, and really showed off Jim Caviezel.

Yeah, but Kevin Reynolds also directed Robin Hood:  Prince of Thieves, which I really enjoy, and Fandango which is good as well.
