Add Filmspot Categories?

Hey, guys. I am bored and while I talked about it in the FYC thread, I was wondering if we could bring this to the forefront in a democratic manner and see what discussion it might spark.

If you could add any categories to the filmspots, what would you add?

Where's the poll option for removing categories?

The ramification of adding a Best Action Scene terrify me.

On the one hand, I'd be interested to see "best opening scene" and "best closing scene", but on the other hand I sort of feel like if a film's beginning or ending is good enough, it will make it into the "best scene" category.

I would definitely like to see best action scene and best original song added.

I'm not a big fan of Best "original" song because often the best uses of music in movies are from non-original songs. Think of "Fight the Power" in Do the Right Thing or "Stuck in the Middle With You" in Reservoir Dogs. The best musical moments are often from non-original songs. If you wanted to broaden the category to 'Best Use of a Song in a Film', I would be all for that.

I say we get rid of Best Editing, Best Sound, Best Surprise, Best Shot, Best Line and consolidate Best Scene into a single category (action, comedic or dramatic), consolidate Score/Soundtrack into a Best Use of Music. Less is more!

I pretty much agree with all that.

I should be best use of music rather than score and soundtrack because then you have cases like TToL that uses music excellently but removed from the film is a pretty terrible soundtrack because soundtracks have songs not collections of noise.

Eliminating Best Editing does not make much sense, nor does best shot, best line, or combining the best scenes (aside from losing arguments over comedy vs. drama). Along with Best Surprise these are all categories that have high yield discoveries, which will likely prove refreshing a year that I feel pretty much has prescribed winners and nominees if release dates don't get pushed around.

I could drop Best Sound, I guess.
