I'd prefer to go older as well. 1930s ideally... von Sternberg, Renoir, Murnau, Borzage, Ford, Lubitsch, Cocteau, Ozu, Vigo, Clair, Wellman, Lang...

Considering we only had about 20 voters this time around, I thought we might entice more people with a more recent year, then try to keep them playing for Round III: The 30s.

Agreed.  I think it's a good idea to alternate older (say, pre-1980) with newer.
