Millennium Mambo

Another film with a shockingly low 6.8 rating at IMDb.

I blame people over the age of 45.

What's the appeal?

This always cracks me up whenever it comes to mind (it does a lot):

I've only seen Millennium Mambo, it's as roujin-y as you think it is.

I'm surprised to see so many votes for 2001 without any arguments in support of it. What's the appeal?

Mulholland Drive
Amélie

  :)

I think I wrote something a little more substantial about it somewheres. And I'm of course using the word substantial loosely.

Mulholland Drive
Amélie

Hmm, yeah, I probably underrated that one a shade, too:

All About Lily Chou-Chou
Spirited Away
Donnie Darko
Children Underground
Hedwig and the Angry Inch
The Royal Tenenbaums
Monsoon Wedding
L.I.E.
A.I.
Time Out
Shaolin Soccer
The Piano Teacher
Millennium Mambo

I guess the problem for me is that it's a year where I'd be more excited to watch other people discover things than to discover new favorites myself.

Very good Animated and Documentary Film races, though.

Millennium Mambo

That one especially but also:
Trouble Every Day
La Libertad
La Cienega
Millennium Actress
Shaolin Soccer
Late Marriage

Not sure it's the one I'm going to vote for but it's got enough films I'd like to discover / have others discover.

Voted for 2006, since if we're gonna do recents, may as well make them contiguous with the Filmspots (ESTed 2007) and work backwards.

Voted for 2006

Me to, but only because it has the most amazing line-up of movies.

NM, found something better.  :-X
