The theme this month is books that are worthy of a spot on our list of the Top 100 Books of All Time. This book club is guilt-free, meaning that subjects are committed just to sampling a book (at the very least) and posting a review of however much they read.

If this was the Give the first fifty pages a try, and if you like it keep going dictator club I would happily join in.  :)

Seriously.

I have no problem generating motivation to try any book. It's what I do when I go to the bookstore (stand there and read the first chapter). That's fun and easy. Committing to finishing an entire book before I even know whether I like it or not it more daunting. I don't think I'd be willing to risk such a burden, and wouldn't want to impose that burden on someone else.

Would this be an acceptable policy for people? That you can abandon the book if your just not digging it?

Works for me. It would probably have kept the mobius strip book club from stalling like it did. (Hmm, maybe we should just revive that. I still have Audie Murphy's book on my shelf, waiting to be read.)

I'm only in the middle of two books right now, so why not. Hopefully something my library has.

The theme this quarter would be books that are worthy of (and need support for) the upcoming Top 100.

That would be books that make our own ballot would it not? iirc some books made the last top 100 with as few as 2 votes.
