Hey, guys...we're lucky to be here at all.  No embeds and no integrated chat and no spoiler tags in the foreseeable future, it's just that way.

Though I have to admit... I'm not sure why this is... I'm willing to spend a few dollars to upgrade if that's possible. Maybe there are valid reasons why we can't, I just don't know.

The features mentioned here aren't really upgrades.  Lynch added these features for us, but didn't re-installed them after an upgrade so we've not had these features since that major upgrade.

My thoughts on this - I am with Candace here, no pruning - no matter what worth any ONE person assigns to various threads in here - it is a complete record of our interactions.
There is a huge amount of material to be mined - lots and lots of cinematic knowledge but also - life - we have all spent hours, days, weeks - months even in here and I feel that it's all valuable - births, deaths, marriages, break-ups, loves lost and found - friendships forged in the silly interactions and in the meaningful exchange of criticism.
This sort of community is hard to find on the internet - especially one this stable and (for the most part) drama free.
I will happily pitch in if we need to raise money.
Hey, nice marmot!

As for the pruning, is that step even inevitable? Is there a chance that, say, two or three more years of posts and threads will cause even more problems?
Still curious about this.

The IT guy is going to spend some time in the guts here to see if he can optimize the search and restore that function without pruning the forum.  If not, we'll take it from there.  Pruning is on the table, but so is living with the occasional outages until we figure something else out.  All options are being considered.  It's best to let IT have a good look around inside the patient first.
