That relationship is one of the biggest problems in The Searchers...

I missed this!

Please, tell me more. :)

It doesn't change in five years. That's the gist of my argument. Five years and they're 90% when they were when they left.

Oh! I think you mean the relationship between Martin and Ethan, or Debbie?

I wrote Dorothy and Ethan, but I meant to write Martha. Dorothy is the actress' name. :)

Silverado

Forgot to ask, were you surprised by Kevin Costner being cast as the energetic hotshot. Over time he became more identified as an actor who underplays, sometimes to the point of appearing wooden. I started with Silverado and watched his energy go down over the years, so how did you react seeing him cast as "the kid"?

I'm planning to watch this again today. I own it on Blu Ray and with my new 65 inch TV it should look amazing.

I was surprised how young he was! And yes, how goofy. I had a great time looking back to his beginnings and could see his star quality jump off the screen, something to behold. You're right, he does underplay in the films I'm familiar with.

Enjoy the movie!! and hurray on your new TV! :D

I meant the two men, mostly, but her waiting for him for five years is about as annoying.

Yes, I agree with both of those relationships. Wish there was a greater development with the two men's and five years of limbo is rough.

The unspoken relationship of Ethan and Martha is where I think the movie gets it perfectly. You know there are deep waters flowing, but have no idea of the source. The undercurrents speak loud and clear in the silence.
