Not your fault, pix, you did a fine job!  Thanks for all the hard work!

I think this year just didn't have as much juice as we thought it would.  There were some mighty fine films (including a number of my top discoveries of the year) but in the end, it was mostly the 3-4 movies you would expect to stand out that stood out.  I think the big winner this Retrospots was Une homme qui dort.

If we do this again -- and I hope we do -- I really think we should shoot for a year from the 90's, or late 80's at the earliest.

I think it was just a year with a lot of clear favorites, which kinda killed the incentive to seek out new movies (hard to campaign against Godfather 2 or Gena Rowlands). The cool thing is that even then, Un homme qui dort managed to get a bunch of fans. 1957 was a little more wide open, with a number of films open for discovery, including a lot of movies of the "I've always meant to watch that" variety.

Timing was also an issue, going up against the fall movie season is tough.

I like the plan to go to the 30s after the 2012 filmspots are finished.  And then the 90s after that.  If we schedule things better, we should be able to get both done by September.

I just double-checked my inbox and don't see a final ballot from you (just a nominations ballot). If you want to resend, it won't take me that long to recalculate the results.
