Too specific?

I'm currently making a documentary that concerns atomic fears of post World War II America and how those fears manifested themselves in the sci-fi movies of the time. I realize that this is a genre you either have great affection for or think is a cheezy waste of time, but I think these are some great movies-- both a lot of fun and (yes I'm serious) very political.

I'd like to see you do

The Day the Earth Stood Still
Them!
The Thing From Another World
Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Forbidden Planet (a sci-fi remake of Shakepear's The Tempest)

Thoughts? Suggestions? Lynch mob for a bad idea?

Only if every movie in the marathon has a MST3K version to it.  That's the only way you'll get me to watch them.

Although I saw The Day the Earth Stood Still on TV a long time ago, and I loved it.  This one of those few movies, for me, that breaks my "No old movies" rule.

No old movies!? :o

I am a proud owner (see also: Total Geek) of every episode of MST3K ever.

Old movies = Blech.

I'm very jealous of your MST3K collection.  I have but one: something about The Spider Woman.  I've watched it twice.

Why not just do a sci-fi marathon?

I certainly wouldn't be disappointed with that (though it's my goal in life to make more people watch these 50s films!).

Trying to leave out REALLY obvious ones (like Blade Runner) I'd say:

THX-1138
West World
Logan's Run
The Day The Earth Stood Still (okay, pretty obvious)
Day of the Triffod

If they hadn't already talked about Primer on the show, I'd certainly add that. Hats off to Adam and Sam for bringing that gem to my attention.
