Jungle Book rocks!

Although I might personally give it to Cool Hand Luke...

1989. Do the Right Thing. Ehhhh. While I love it, I am not in love with it as much as I would like to be with my Birth Year Movie.

Return of the Jedi just nudges out A Christmas Story. I don't particularly adore either of those films but nothing I've seen from '83 really stands out, need to catch up on some missing titles.

I agree with both of these statements. Cool Hand Luke is one of the key films that turned me into a filmaphile.

5. The Thing - Carpenter

4. Blade Runner - Scott

3. Fast Times at Ridgemont High - Heckerling

2. The King of Comedy - Scorsese

1. E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial - Spielberg

Need to see: Fitzcarraldo, White Dog, First Blood, 48 Hrs, Fanny & Alexander, Liquid Sky, and One from the Heart.

1982 was a great year, manana ... I saw White Dog for the first time on 35mm in a theater about two years ago, and it really blew me away.  It was such a strange combination of B-movie trying so hard to be a big message film.  Whether it was successful or not is debatable, but I had to admire the effort.

And don't spend your time lookin' around
For something you want that can't be found
When you find out you can live without it
And go along not thinkin' about it
I'll tell you something true

The bare necessities of life will come to you

This brought a smile to my face.

Mine is 1996. (Yeah, I know, I'm a baby.) Fargo.

I was hoping to catch it in the bracket but I'm pretty sure it got cut.
