Films that need a remake.
« on: March 17, 2013, 10:40:21 PM »
First of all, I despise 90% of remakes out there. There are too many of them and they often lose the spirit of the original.

That said, there have to be a whole bunch of films out there that are BEGGING for a remake. I was watching Soylent Green the other day and it struck me how great a remake of this film could be with modern technology. The original film is hardly a classic, good film not a great one but a remake could really work well.

What other films would you like to see remade in this age where remakes are generally poor and often ill-conceived ?

Any of those techno thrillers of the late 90s/early 00s.

The Most Dangerous Game (1932)

The original is horribly dated now with an extremely over the top villain. As long as they don't make it with unreal action scenes, this could be a great suspense thriller today.

I'd love to see Face/Off get remade every couple of years only to see actors try to imitate each other. Maybe because they are starring in Pain and Gain, but I think The Rock and Mark Wahlberg would be fun to watch doing that.

Was WWE Films' The Condemned starring the one and only Stone Cold Steve Austin not good enough for you.

I'd like to see a Daredevil reboot.

Watched Michael Mann's The Keep recently. It's a great concept and pretty good film, but I don't think it reached it's full potential. Could be a really good action/horror.

I hate all remakes, but I heard one idea here on the forum (sorry, I'm not sure from whom) that I found highly tolerable:

A Wes Anderson-directed remake of A Christmas Story.
