Lead:

Running Out of Time - Lau Ching-wan

Supporting:

Running Out of Time - Andy Lau

I'm surprised to see Andy Lau FYC'd for Supporting. They seemed like co-leads to me.

Belfast, Maine

Seconded (Documentary).

Did anyone else watch On the Ropes? It really needs to get nominated.

On my radar but haven't seen it. I didn't put it on my to do list because of procurement challenges.

I'm disappointed in your public library.

What's funny is they have the soundtrack CD but not the DVD.

The nominations ballot has been posted here. I'm not going to send it out via private message just yet.

I encourage everyone to submit ballots this weekend, even if they might change before the final deadline. (Changes to submitted ballots are welcome.) I'll try to use the early ballots to get the FYC threads more up-to-date, especially in terms of which nominees have been seconded and thirded.

Preliminary nominations will be announced on the forum as soon as I can finish tabulating them. There might be a second round of nominations balloting in certain categories if the initial ballots don't yield a clear set of nominees.

I'm worried that a category like Documentary or Short Film might have ten different films get two votes apiece. If not happens, there will probably be a two week period after the deadline where voters can do a little more discovery and updating their ballots for those categories. That sound okay?

There's some early consensus in a select few categories ... but definitely some work to do. I'm still not convinced that Short Film is a viable category for 1999, but hopefully we can at least salvage Documentary and Year.

Try to get your preliminary ballots in over the course of the next day or two, and I'll use them to get the FYC threads updated — with specific attention paid to what's been seconded and thirded.

I'm super happy to see Saïd Taghmaoui appear on a ballot, for his supporting performance in Three Kings.
