Saw Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai a couple days ago because of this, and it is wonderful. The score, Forest Whitaker's performance, the poetic tone, the ice cream vendor (who I'm assuming is unsubtitled ?), everything. Had a great time with it, looking forward to seeing more Jarmusch, starting with Paterson soon-ish.

Rosetta

This begins with a much faster pace than I'm used to with the Dardenne's.  But that's Rosetta for you.  What a remarkable, powerful personality that leads you from one aspect of her struggle against poverty to another!  There were a number of shockers, and I was talking back to her throughout the film.

Martin was completely right.  I needed to watch this film.  Had I watched it ahead of time, Émilie Dequenne would have been on my ballot for best actress.  At the top.

Y'know, I voted for Cecilia Roth but I'm starting to reconsider. Dequenne is really incredible.

Glad it worked for you.

There are still three ballots I'm hoping come in, so if you want to change any votes this weekend, feel free.
