Noir-vember Group Marathon 2013
« on: October 30, 2013, 09:37:24 PM »

Time to watch, review and discuss the "crime thrillers" and "murder dramas" of the 40's and 50's.  As well as the gangster pictures of the 30's, late noirs of the early 60's, neo-noirs of the 70's and beyond, and anything in between.  Since noir is different things to different people, if you feel like it belongs here, then it probably does.

That's a very accommodating description. :) I'm still interested to know if all these titles are generally considered to be noir:

The Big Sleep
Dark Passage
The Glass Key
Key Largo
The Maltese Falcon
Shadow of a Doubt
To Have and Have Not

I don't think I'll be able to get to these. If not, they'll be a reminder for 2014.

Brighton Rock (1947)
The Dark Mirror
Pandora and the Flying Dutchman (What is this film's genre?)
Sabotage
The Stranger
Strangers on a Train

I'm in, this is my favorite marathon of the year. Hopefully, I'll watch a few more this year, as opposed to last year.
Masterpiece (100-91) | Classic (90-80) | Entertaining (79-69) | Mediocre (68-58) | Cinemuck (57-21) | Crap (20-0)

Dirty Pretty Things

The most inspired selection so far, and a really good film. Great performances.

I've had a copy of it sitting around forever, so this is a good opportunity to finally watch it.
