This is the show with Harrelson and McCon in it? I have to find this. Generic isn't a dirty term.

It's on Sky Atlantic, it starts in February, can't wait ;D. True Detective

This is what I think of Sky Atlantic.

This was a fairly strong first episode, it just felt strange going from this (which is very methodical in its pacing) to Girls where the episodes just FLY by. Interested to watch more.

The best scene was the dinner scene, I also hope the future episodes have more present day Matty M and Woody H, rather than the 1995 ones.

The best scene was the dinner scene,

I tend to agree but at the same time I think the sum of his parts make this a better episode than every single scene in it, I mean the accumulation of information and the constantly changing of narrative perspective is what makes it great.

So, I've read a couple of things online that indicate that the 2012 detectives are thinking that Rust Cohle might be the serial killer from 1995.  If that's happening in the series, I'm missing the point entirely.  Are any of you getting that from the 3 eps so far.

Boo that it's not on again until Feb 9.

Cohle suggests he's being treated as a suspect at the end of the first episode (if not of perpetrating the original killings, then certainly of committing the most recent one).

Haven't watched the 3rd episode yet but definitely got that from the first two. I would even say that Woody's character in 2012 is getting the same impression (based on the kinds of questions he's being asked) and tries to stick up for him.

Thanks, Tequila.  Time for a re-watch!

Question: Are you saying that the 2012 detectives think Cohle did the current murder as a copycat or the 1995 murder?

What we have gathered until now is that the 2012 murder has the same M.O. of the 1995 murder, that the 1995 murderer was caught, so the 2012 detectives are asking themselves: only someone who knew the details of the 1995 murder could do this, so what option do we have here?
1 - the guy who was caught in 1995 was not the murderer
2 - the cops involved in the 1995 investigation have leaked information about the case and someone is re-enacting the murders.

So, not the case where one of the 1995 detectives could have committed the 2012 murder?
