So beautiful.  :'(

Makes me want to see the movie, just to know why these two men are sitting in a room, while Davis sings that particular song.

Yeah ILD is definitely worth the watch, but think it might be outta Sandy's price range.

Saw Dave in a kid's movie I was watching earlier, made me think of this cover.

Bob and Jimi must be so proud! Can you imagine getting to be there in Central Park for that? What an experience.

Great song Monty. No vote from the widow. :D

Someday, Junior!

Since I can't stop thinking about these songs, if I write something, I might process the reasons why. Nothing More doesn't pull any punches, but calls out anything, everything. In a life of good behavior and expectations of calmness, sometimes I clamor for the right to do the same. The songs challenge me and unsettle me, but it's good therapy. :)

Love these lines, so much:

Naked we come, naked we leave
Fools we are, to hold tightly
We are the jail, we are the key
We are free, we are free
This is the time that we let it go
This is the pain we are forced to know
Singing the song that's inside us all
If we just open our eyes

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for listening Sandy, I'm pleasantly surprised you enjoyed these.  Been listening to this album whilst at the gym in the mornings.

Got a chance to go through the album!

First, I have to say that Jonny Hawkins has pipes! I don't know how he keeps his voice, with all he puts it through.  Oh! He just went into falsetto in God Went North at "I'll hold you 'til you're free." wow. Oh, and the ending. :'(

Not surprisingly, these are my favorite 3:

This Is The Time (Ballast) - I find this song to be so hopeful, but it takes some excruciating turns to get there.

Here's To The Heartache - It's a companion song to Bless The Broken Road. I like the harmony on "Here's to the heartache." It's a powerful message of endurance, "Fall to my knees and you will see, with time comes grace."

I'll Be Okay - All the lyrics are terrific, but this line is the best advice ever! "I can forgive and be forgiven, by learning to heal with a heart wide open."

It looks like all three are ultimately about hope!

I'm going back and forth between Sex & Lies and Take A Bullet, because I'm having a hard time figuring out which one has more rage. It's a toss up. :D

"Well let's go and find the edge." :) Yes, this album is exploratory!

Amazing album, Col.! Thanks!

You picked all my favorite songs!  I do enjoy heavy stuff and this band has a pretty good mix of heavy riffs.  Hawkins sings a little like Claudio from C&C (Afterman was a fun album!).  Mr. MTV is an interesting tune and I liked the commentary, all too true.  Jenny though is probably my favorite, a song about selfishness.

There are some really great lines, "All the tears that led to this place...it's been a long way."  I can totally see that being a companion piece to BTBR.  "With time comes grace," yes completely.

So cool that you went through this one, thanks for the review Sandy.  Really happy you enjoyed this one! :)
