The Alternative Tentacles record label (started by Jello Biafra, former lead singer of the Dead Kennedy's) has a podcast (Alternative Tentacles Batcast) that is released occasionally. The most recent one featured a band called Ultra Bide, I thought you might be interested Colonel. This song has a bit of a feel of the early/mid 1990's North Caroline sound mixed in.

Mushi

Some other stuff.

The Nation of Ulysses - Shakedown
Shakedown

Melvins - Charmicarmicat
Charmicarmicat

One of the bands I remember from the North Caroline sound is Sex Police, here is the track Hurricane
Hurricane

Earlier I mentioned the album Crack in the Sun or Fade in the Shade. Here are a few of my favourites.

Guttersnipes - Pyromania
Pyromania

Head Ache - Stanley (can you spot where the vocal clip comes from?)
Stanley

Nursery Crimes - Haywire

Ultra Bide- Not bad, I love how it takes a bunch of different directions, and around the 4 and half minute part sounds a lot like At The Drive In, which I love, so was pretty cool tune.  Not sure if i was entirely in love with it, but enjoyed the heaviness of it.

The Nation of Ulysses- Yeah this I dig!  Will have to explore more, thanks for this one.  In the album cover pic he looks like a preppy thinner Henry Rollins lol.

Melvins- Classic!  Can't go wrong with them, did you know Shirley Temple's daughter played in the band for a time?  Interesting side note.

Sex Police- A little too weird/poppy for me, though the bass player was jamming some Flea like riffs there that were pretty cool.  I also loved the two horn players, both solid solos.  Though I wonder why the drummer was dressed as Gilligan lol  I imagine you probably like the Talking Heads if you like these guys?

Guttersnipes- Oh yeah sort of Rancid-ish with cool bridges.  Digging this.

Head Ache- Stanley isn't bad at all, tough going punk, like this.  I'm guessing it's Andrew Dice Clay, but have no idea the film or show the quote is from.

Nursery Crimes- Ah yeah love that intro guitar riff!  Another jam that is right up my alley.

Thanks for these Davey, I'm going to definitely find that Nation of Ulysses and Crack in the Sun or Fade in the Shade albums, these I would like to be able to give a spin while I'm cruising.

Tonight for a window of about 4 hours I was afraid for my brother who was working with the Master At Arms/Security Forces at Norfolk Naval Station last night, there was a shooting and a sailor was killed.  My brother was there, but he is safe and I was thinking of all the other troops who still serve and are out there tonight.  A song from my time and to the fallen sailor my thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

I didn't post a Coast Guard one and a friend reminded me about them, this song is great, the film it's from is pretty cool and man these guys really do train as soldiers and get the least of all acknowledgement, much respect to the Coasties!

<Here is a bit of pedantic nit-picking>Agreed, although based on timelines, more Operation Ivy-ish (the precursor band to Rancid).</nitpick>
