I wanted to learn how to jam to this music, so I told everyone around me that I was unavailable, put on my headphones and turned up the sound. These are the notes I took while listening. Did I miss the point of jammin, by taking notes?
GuernicaThis is visceral - the first three notes and then the fourth obliterated by the bass and drums... Oh, he can't help, but would sacrifice anything if it would make a difference... Yes, that's exactly how a toy feels. Back and forth between barren and "raging against the dying of the light." Then Bigger raging! More rage please... I get it now.
Don't Tell And We Won't AskHalf way through and I'm crying. I can feel their pain I guess, or maybe they know how to reach mine, digging in with their thrashing guitars, thrashing voices and attacking the drums (makes me think of my step-brother, who played like that). Imploring for humanity by ripping away all excuses. Reverse psychology pounded into my brain, which changes my level of awareness, for keeps.
The Sky Is Fallin'How do they make the guitars do that? They're sending the sound through the amplifiers all hammered out and shredded. And then, a few beautifully voiced notes on "close your eyes...", high and clear and at complete odds with the music. This songs fill me with such hope. Strange how just that glimmer is all it takes.
Impressive music colonel_mexico, much more than meets the uninitiated eye.
