Thrice and Brand New are my first and third favourite bands respectively.

Glad everyone enjoyed the tunes, some of my favorites and what I was jammin yesterday.  Brand New is really cool the album Deja Entendu was really cool and had that light but heavy theme throughout.

The Sky is Fallin

I wanted to learn how to jam to this music, so I told everyone around me that I was unavailable, put on my headphones and turned up the sound. These are the notes I took while listening. Did I miss the point of jammin, by taking notes? :)

Guernica

This is visceral - the first three notes and then the fourth obliterated by the bass and drums... Oh, he can't help, but would sacrifice anything if it would make a difference... Yes, that's exactly how a toy feels. Back and forth between barren and "raging against the dying of the light." Then Bigger raging! More rage please... I get it now.

Don't Tell And We Won't Ask

Half way through and I'm crying. I can feel their pain I guess, or maybe they know how to reach mine, digging in with their thrashing guitars, thrashing voices and attacking the drums (makes me think of my step-brother, who played like that). Imploring for humanity by ripping away all excuses. Reverse psychology pounded into my brain, which changes my level of awareness, for keeps.

The Sky Is Fallin'

How do they make the guitars do that? They're sending the sound through the amplifiers all hammered out and shredded. And then, a few beautifully voiced notes on "close your eyes...", high and clear and at complete odds with the music. This songs fill me with such hope. Strange how just that glimmer is all it takes.

Impressive music colonel_mexico, much more than meets the uninitiated eye.

Sandy I'm so glad you enjoyed these!  Loved your reviews of each and yes I couldn't agree more with every thought.  Thanks for listening and most of all enjoying :)

Coheed and Cambria sure have a distinctive sound. The beginning of Gravity's Union is pretty spectacular with it's distortion and then that very dry vocal cutting through the noise. I keep starting it over to hear it. I'm pretty enamored with Dark Side Of Me. Its lament lingers.

Colonel, have you read the Amory Wars comic books?
