Jasmine Dragon Pearl 95/100

The last tea in my shipment from Enjoying Tea completes a triumvirate of infused ecstasy. If you've been reading along with the other reviews I've written, you can tell that I love floral teas, with Jasmine being my favorite scent. This Dragon Pearl is loaded with Jasmine scent and flavor, and when steeped to around the five minute mark, throws in some delicate vegetal tastes too.

Fleury Doux Champagne 60/100

Boy, the description of this tea sounded a lot better than it tasted. From The Art of Tea...Raise your teacups in a special toast with this celebratory blend of high grown estate Ceylon black tea, bio-dynamic Darjeeling, organic white peony, organic rose petals and a muscatel grape essence. This magnificent concoction delivers sweet, crisp, floral notes with a full-bodied finish of muscatel grapes. Unfortunately, it never delivered on the promise in that description. Maybe this tea was on the old side, because it just didn't do anything for my taste buds. Slight grape essence and a wisp of rose aroma, but overall, rather flat and listless on the tongue.

Hibiscus Tea from Starwest Botanicals 100/100

A few months ago I read that Hibiscus has been used for centuries as a natural remedy for lowering blood pressure. Well, my blood pressure has been a problem for close to ten years now, and I was willing to try anything to reduce the amount of pharmaceutical pills I was taking each day. I started drinking 4 cups of this tea every day and it took almost four weeks, but I have seen a 20 point decrease in my Systolic and a 10 point decrease in my Diastolic. The best part is that I’ve cut my meds in half and have maintained these lower numbers.

As for the tea itself, it takes a bit of time to get used to, but when you learn to flavor it with other herbs and green teas, it makes a quite refreshing drink called Jamaica (pronounced huh-mika), a favorite iced tea in Central America and Mexico. On hot summer days, a 50/50 mix of hibiscus and green tea, chilled and slightly sweetened, rivals traditional Iced tea, and in my opinion, out performs it. The combo is an anti-oxidant superstar with the added caveat of l-theanine.

I remember when I was in Puerto Rico, Jamaica iced tea was a common beverage option. It was good, but I don't have a strong enough palette for tea to remember specifics.

Not sure if this is an act worth disowning, but with the summer heat I've taken to chucking two bags of generic green tea in my water bottle with cool water and leaving the to steep overnight. Tastes alright.

Better than just using hot water and letting it cool?

I believe so...or just using hot water and drinking it hot. Tastes more mellow, maybe a bit more like Matcha, with less bitterness.

with less bitterness.

If you're getting bitterness, then you're either steeping too long or using too high a temperature in the beginning.
