I don't know what happened over at photobucket, but I've been seeing this in place of a lot of photos and Avatars around the forum.

It seems they changed policy that will only allow those to pay in some of their premium plans to have their photos used for 3rd party hosting:

http://blog.photobucket.com/please-review-latest-changes-photobucket/

They seem to think the previous policy is not sustainable since many people and entities may use them to host photos but they only get embedded for use on other sites which doesn't help them generate ad revenue.  Now you need a Plus 500 play to get 3rd party hosting which costs 39.99 per month!

http://photobucket.com/pricing

Plus 50 offers 50GB of Storage and No Linking or 3rd Party Hosting
Plus 100 offers 100GB of Storage, Unlimited Linking, and No 3rd Party Hosting
Plus 500 offers 500GB of Storage, Unlimited Linking, Unlimited Bandwidth, and Unlimited 3rd Party Hosting

I am guessing this will back fire. I have seen many images and Avatars display this image on other forums as well.  There is no way anybody is going to pay that price for this feature.

I think they are going to find people just dropping the service, I would cancel and delete my account if I used them.  If Flickr follows, I'll cancel as well.

Yeah, they had been my avatar linking spot basically the entire time I'm on the forum. I mean, I get it, being a popular site doesn't mean much if you can't monetize, but at some point if you mess with functionality you don't get money, you get mothballed.

Speaking of mothballs, I reckon tumblr is headed there now that they've locked down NSFW content. It might not have been savory, but it was a big part of their place in the internet society.

Thank goodness for Star Trek.

I'm guessing the regulars have been busy. I've been working more lately, with most of my movie watching focused on Michael Curtiz.

Aside from people posting less, the biggest thing that seems lacking is a discussion about You Were Never Really Here. A new and highly-acclaimed Lynne Ramsay film would have some passionate discussion from the few that have seen it, urging the rest of us on.
