So like, the scenes involving individual songs in musicals? But specifically the staging and not just the song.

That's how I picture it, yeah. Well, more or less. It'd be hard to leave "Over the Rainbow" off my list, for lack of staging -- but "America" (West Side Story) is more the standard.

I'd have to do a lot of thinking, but I recently declared Sixteen Going On Seventeen to be pretty much a perfect musical number. And whatever song it is they are doing during the whole fight in Seven Brides...or is that just music, I only remember the dance-fight, but I know it isn't any of the songs from the show that I remember.

Wow, okay.  This is a project, but a good one.

EDIT: After thinking for a moment on this, I have a point of order to ask.  I figure that musical scenes in non-musical movies (Such as Always Look on the Bright Side of Life or the parade scene in Ferris Bueller) are acceptable.  But what about scenes that focus on the music but aren't musical in a song-and-dance kind of way, such as the scene in Amadeus where Salieri is describing Mozart's music?  ("I was hearing the voice of God")

Girl Walk // All Day... does "the entire movie" count as a musical number?

No, more like "Unchained Melody" in Ghost.

The problem with this is I'll have to choose between James Franco singing "Everytime" in Spring Breakers and Gene Kelly in "Singin in the Rain"  :-\
