A review of the most popular Board discussions and a handy catch-up guide to all new members. I’ll keep an index in the next post as Members new and old answer the questions.

1. Who is your favorite movie director working today?
2. Who is the greatest movie director of All Time and what is the worst movie by them you've seen?
3. Who is the greatest living movie Actor and Actress?
4. Who is the greatest movie Actor and Actress of all time?
5. What is your favorite Overlooked Film?
6. What film in your Top 100 gives your list personal charm?
7. What is your favorite TV Show of All Time?

9. Which year of cinema was better, 1957 or 1974?
10. Which is better Goodfellas or Magnolia?
11. Die Hard or Back to the Future?
12. Name one film you're ashamed to admit you still haven't watched.
13. Name both your Man Crush and your Woman Crush.

1. Wes Anderson
2. Yasujiro Ozu, Good Morning
3. Difficult. Robert DeNiro was the greatest living actor in the 70s, 80s, and most of the 90s. I guess I will say Daniel-Day Lewis (cliched, I know) and Tilda Swinton (or Meryl Streep, another cliche).
4. Off the top of my head and at-the-moment, I will say Buster Keaton and Barbara Stanwyck.
5. Uh, does A Woman is a Woman count? Or Two-Lane Blacktop?
6. Johnnie To's The Mission or Lilo & Stitch. Speaking of which, I need to revamp it...
7. The Twilight Zone or The Simpsons, Seasons 1-12
8. Ooooh, toughie. Let's say Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Or Breaking Bad. Nope! Can't answer it. Tie.
9. 1957. I've seen the major works of 74 and I can't imagine them being as great as the films I haven't seen from 1957 (The Cranes Are Flying & The Bridge on the River Kwai, namely)
10. Goodfellas. Magnolia is the Disney version of Short Cuts.
11. Tough! I go back and forth on this a lot! But probably Back to the Future. More inventive. We don't see films like this a whole lot, even today. Kids today would be like, "WHERE ARE ALL THE GUNS AND SUPER POWERS?!"
12. The Gold Rush or Oldboy or City of God or La Dolce Vita. Take your pick.
13. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Cristin Milloti.

15. Give the following films a grade/rating (whatever scale you prefer):
The Dark Knight - A-
Eraserhead - A
Inception - B+
Inglourious Basterds - B
A Serious Man - A
Skyfall - B
Tree of Life - A
Watchmen - C

16. Give the following directors a grade/rating (whatever scale you prefer):
Woody Allen - B
Wes Anderson - A-
John Ford – B+
Werner Herzog - C
Yasujirō Ozu - A
Steven Soderbergh - B
Steven Spielberg - B+
Quentin Tarantino - B-
Johnnie To - A-
Lars von Trier - C+
