What, you've never bonded with someone over the fact that your mothers' names were the same ? You have not truly lived then.

This made me laugh.

Oooooh, a thing. If I filled this out last week or next week, a lot of my answers would probably be different, but wtf, let's do this. Also I'm choosing to interpret "greatest" as "favorite," since greatest isn't a real thing.

1. Who is your favorite movie director working today?  Gotta be the Coens. Nobody can touch them for consistency.
2. Who is the greatest movie director of All Time and what is the worst movie by them you've seen? Billy Wilder, but I found The Seven Year Itch to be pretty middling.
3. Who is the greatest living movie Actor and Actress? Gary Oldman, Julianne Moore.
4. Who is the greatest movie Actor and Actress of all time? Paul Newman, Audrey Hepburn.
5. What is your favorite Overlooked Film? Mirrormask
6. What film in your Top 100 gives your list personal charm? A Muppet's Christmas Carol
7. What is your favorite TV Show of All Time? The Wire.
8. Would you rather own the Complete Box Set for Mad Men, Lost, Breaking Bad or Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Probably Mad Men.
9. Which year of cinema was better, 1957 or 1974? '57
10. Which is better Goodfellas or Magnolia? Goodfellas. Although I'm still only seen Magnolia once, so it's at a bit of a disadvantage here.
11. Die Hard or Back to the Future? Back to the Future.
12. Name one film you're ashamed to admit you still haven't watched. Network.
13. Name both your Man Crush and your Woman Crush. Paul Newman (I know he's dead, I don't care, I'd still hit that), Lupita Nyong'o.

14. For each category, list 1 Favorite and 1 you wish more of us would watch:
Musical - The Blues Brothers, maybe Once.
Horror Movie - The Shining, annnnnd I got nothing.
Film Noir - Brick, The Big Combo.
Documentary - Exit Through the Gift Shop, Night and Fog.
Animated Film - Up, The Secret of Kells.
Western - Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Appaloosa.
James Bond Film - Toss up between Casino Royale and On Her Majesty's Secret Service.
Performance by an Actor - Paul Newman in Cool Hand Luke.
Performance by an Actress - Maria Falconetti in The Passion of Joan of Arc.

15. Give the following films a grade/rating (whatever scale you prefer):
The Dark Knight - 10/10
Eraserhead - 7/10
Inception - 10/10
Inglourious Basterds - 9/10
A Serious Man - 8/10
Skyfall - 8/10
Tree of Life - 9/10
Watchmen - 9/10 (I haven't seen this one in years though, I suspect I might not like it as much now)

16. Give the following directors a grade/rating (whatever scale you prefer):
Woody Allen - 7/10 (0/10 as a person)
Wes Anderson - 8/10
John Ford – 8/10
Werner Herzog - 10/10
Yasujirō Ozu - 5/10
Steven Soderbergh - 8/10
Steven Spielberg - 8/10
Quentin Tarantino - 7/10
Johnnie To - Only seen a couple of his movies, they didn't make much impression.
Lars von Trier - 8/10

You had me at Mirrormask and A Muppet's Christmas Carol and lost me at Back to the Future over Die Hard. We've got a giant poll about that that has been running for nigh on a decade at this point but you're gonna vote wrong in it so I'm not going to give you the link. I'll leave that to somebody else.

Other than that, welcome aboard, Admiral!

First off, love the name.

3. Who is the greatest living movie Actor and Actress? Gary Oldman, Julianne Moore.
I like to imagine a film with people's picks for this question. This would be an especially good pairing. I see them as a cool couple of detectives working the night shift in a big city together or a remake of Sisters with Oldman as the doctor who knows the terrible secret.

10. Which is better Goodfellas or Magnolia? Goodfellas. Although I'm still only seen Magnolia once, so it's at a bit of a disadvantage here.
What made Goodfellas a film you wanted to return to in a way you haven't done with Magnolia?

Watchmen - 9/10 (I haven't seen this one in years though, I suspect I might not like it as much now)
You'd be surprised. I constantly think that because I don't like Zach Snyder, but I always end up liking it more than I expected to.

No imagination required.

That's Hannibal, if you couldn't tell.
