Never did this because I didn't feel qualified to answer most of those. I'm slightly closer to that now I suppose. As a disclaimer, I consider "best" and "favorite" to be synonymous here. Also, I could give different answers to most of those on another day.
1. Who is your favorite movie director working today?
The Coen Bros.
2. Who is the greatest movie director of All Time and what is the worst movie by them you've seen?
Akira Kurosawa, and the worst I've seen would be Zoku Sugata Sanshirô.
3. Who is the greatest living movie Actor and Actress?
Gérard Depardieu is the actor I find the most fascinating. He's just always interesting even if the film is mediocre/terrible.
Frances McDormand. I'm very excited for Three Billboards.
4. Who is the greatest movie Actor and Actress of all time?
Actor : Well, still Depardieu but second place would be Robert DeNiro.
Actress : Again, same answer, but second place would be ScarJo even though she's much less consistent.
I'll note here that there is a clear recency bias because I just don't have enough data for many classic stars, and also less of an emotional attachment since I came to classic movies late, for the most part.
5. What is your favorite Overlooked Film?
It might be too high-profile for this, but my first thought is Burn After Reading. I guess that's more underrated than overlooked, but there you go.
6. What film in your Top 100 gives your list personal charm?
I guess I can't say Burn After Reading again, so... I guess Astérix & Obélix: Mission Cléopâtre ?
7. What is your favorite TV Show of All Time?
The Sopranos. Gets it over The Wire because it actually has a TV structure instead of being essentially a filmed novel.
8. Would you rather own the Complete Box Set for Mad Men, Lost, Breaking Bad or Buffy the Vampire Slayer?
Well the one I do own is Breaking Bad, out of those. I love Mad Men and Lost, and like what I've seen of Buffy a lot though.
9. Which year of cinema was better, 1957 or 1974?
1957 very easily, from what I've seen.
10. Which is better Goodfellas or Magnolia?
Goodfellas
11. Die Hard or Back to the Future?
Die Hard
12. Name one film you're ashamed to admit you still haven't watched.
Hm. I guess Cléo de 5 à 7, because now that I've seen plenty of Varda's work, it seems silly that I still haven't seen what's generally considered her best.
13. Name both your Man Crush and your Woman Crush.
Man crush : Mads Mikkelsen
Girl Crush : Alison Brie
14. For each category, list 1 Favorite and 1 you wish more of us would watch:
Musical
The Blues Brothers / 8 femmes
Horror Movie
Dawn of the Dead / Cure
Film Noir
The Third Man / Sweet Smell of Success (not that obscure, especially here, but I'm not exactly a noir expert)
Documentary
Dont Look Back / La glace et le ciel
Animated Film
Mononoke-hime / Louise en hiver
Western
Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo aka The Good, The Bad and The Ugly / My Darling Clementine (again, not a Western expert)
James Bond Film
Casino Royale / I've seen, like, five of them and I only like two
Performance by an Actor
Emil Jannings in Der letzte Mann / Paul Scofield in A Man for All Seasons (Oscar winner but still not that well-known I think)
Performance by an Actress
Frances McDormand in Fargo / Catherine Frot in Marquerite
15. Give the following films a grade/rating (whatever scale you prefer):
The Dark Knight - 7/10
Eraserhead - Haven't seen
Inception - 8/10
Inglourious Basterds - 9/10
A Serious Man - 8/10
Skyfall - 7/10
Tree of Life - Haven't seen
Watchmen - 8/10 (based on my dim memory of it)
16. Give the following directors a grade/rating (whatever scale you prefer):
Woody Allen - 6/10 (seen 6)
Wes Anderson - 8/10 (seen 2)
John Ford – 7/10 (seen 4)
Werner Herzog - 7/10 (seen 6)
Yasujirō Ozu - 7/10 (seen 3)
Steven Soderbergh - Haven't seen enough (2 of the Ocean's, quite some time ago)
Steven Spielberg - 7/10 (seen 13)
Quentin Tarantino - 9/10 (seen 9)
Johnnie To - Haven't seen enough (1)
Lars von Trier - Haven't seen enough (1)
7/10 is both my "good" and "sometimes great sometimes bad" rating I guess.
